Based on comparative historical studies of the political principles, systems and institutions of Balkan societies during the last two centuries of Southeast Europes history, the project examines the influence of West-European political concepts and institutions, and their gradual adoption in the process of global emancipation of the Balkan peoples on their way towards a European model. In addition to Serbia, the project encompasses Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Macedonia and Turkey.
