International Conference “Fundamentals and Advances in Balkan Linguistics”

 The researchers of the Institute for Balkan Studies (IBS) took part in the international conference “Fundamentals and Advances in Balkan Linguistics” (FABL) organized by the Philology Faculty of the Belgrade University, on November 16-18, 2023.

Annemarie Sorescu-Marinković and Mirjana Mirić talked about “Mother Tongue in the Balkans: A Speakers’ Perspective on the Meaning of the Concept” (co-author: Valentina Sokolovska), presenting the results of the VLingS project (IDEAS program). Svetlana Ćirković and Anđela Redžić presented the paper entitled “The Linguistic Landscape of Štrpce – A New Multilingualism in the Local Space”, which is the result of the project of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, “Serbian vernaculars in Kosovo and Metohija”.

At the invitation of the organizers, the IBS researchers introduced the audience to the activity of the Institute and presented their authored books or edited volumes of studies which have been published in the last three years, by the Institute for Balkan Studies or other prominent publishers from abroad.
