Dr. Nebojša Šuletić at the conference of the International Association for Ottoman Social and Economic History (IAOSEH)

The International Association for Ottoman Social and Economic History (IAOSEH) has organized an International Congress (ICOSEH) every three years since 1977. This event has become a major academic and reunion gathering for Ottomanists worldwide. The primary objective of the Congress is to provide a scholarly platform for the international community of Ottomanists to exchange current research findings and discuss historiography, thereby fostering professional collaboration and solidarity in the field of Ottoman Studies. The 16th conference of this organization took place in Bucharest from July 7th to 11th, 2025, with over 80 historians from across the globe in attendance.

Dr. Nebojša Šuletić, research associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, participated in this international conference with a presentation entitled “Karlovci – The Economic Center of the Ottoman Syrmia” within the panel “Everything on the Vine: The Social and Economic Significance of Wine Consumption in the Ottoman Empire”.
