The Vlach minority in Europe

Between September 28-29, 2015, the international scientific conference The Vlach minority in Europe – history and cultural heritage took place in Lublin, Poland. The organizers of the conference were: the Institute of History of the “Maria Curie Skłodowska” University in Lublin, the Institute of Culture of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and the Faculty of History of the “Adam Mickiewicz” University in Poznań. Two of the members of the Institute for Balkan Studies, SASA, took part in the conference: Miloš Luković, research fellow, delivered the lecture Self-government institutions of nomadic and seminomadic livestock breeders in the Balkans and the Carpathian region in the late medieval and early modern periods (in Polish), while Annemarie Sorescu-Marinković, research associate, presented the paper entitled The Meglen Vlachs (Megleno-Romanians) of Serbia: a community on the verge of extinction (in English).
