The Ninth International Conference on the Mesolithic in Europe MESO2015 was held in Belgrade between 14th and18th September 2015 (http://www.meso2015.com/) – for the first time in southeast Europe. Over 350 researchers and students from Europe but also from other continents participated in the conference. Dr Dragana Filipović orally presented her paper ‘Mesolithic-Neolithic continuity in the use of plant resources: the evidence from Serbia’, co-authored a poster-presentation entitled ‘Wood charcoal and seed/fruit remains from Lepenski Vir’, and contributed to another oral presentation ‘Holocene foraging in the Dinaric Alps: research on the Mesolithic of Montenegro’. During the conference, a visit to the site of Lepenski Vir in the Iron Gates was organised for the participants; Dr Filipović volunteered as one of the tour guides for the trip. She also took part in the preparation of the exhibition ‘Bioarchaeology in the Danube Gorges’ that constituted an additional aspect of the conference and was put on display in the Centre for Archaeological Research at the Faculty of Philosophy.
