Dr. Mirjana Detelić, senior research fellow, of the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, passed away on December 18th 2014. She worked on the poetics and semiotics of folklore, particularly on Serbian epic tradition. She published scholarly monographs “Mythical space and epic” (1993), “The curse and the bride. Poetics of the epic formula” (1996), “The white city. The origin of the epic formula and Slavic toponyms” (2006), “Epic cities. Lexicon ” (2007) and prepared a series of collections of scientific works. She was the author of the electronic database of epic folk poetry. In addition to scientific studies, she also published two novels (“The legends of disappearance” and “Dorkasi. The legends of disappearance”)
