The Conference is thematically structured into four main sections: diplomatic and military topics; historiography and literature; legacy and memory. Apart from bilateral topics and those relating to the attitude of the great powers towards the Balkans, considerable attention will be paid to cultural history, the literary portrayal of the Great War and the culture of memory. The Conference is dedicated to the memory of the late director of the Institute for Balkan Studies, Dušan T. Bataković, who was its prime mover and driving force.
