22. Sep 2017.

The Institute of Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Siences and Arts has just published a new book in its Special Editions series: Documents of Serbian Medieval Rulers in Dubrovnik Collections: The Nemanjić Period by Nebojša Porčić. The book offers descriptions, text editions and commentaries of 90 documents issued by Serbian rulers of the Nemanjić dynasty, as well as 17 non-royal documents, whose origins and/or current location enable them to be included in the Dubrovnik corpus of Serbian medieval documents. In addition, the book contains two accompanying studies. One deals with the historical context in which the documents were created, namely the relations between the Nemanjić state and the Dubrovnik commune, and the other with the diplomatic features of royal documents, among which it is possible to identify several characteristic document types. The edition is supplemented with images of the treated documents on 92 color plates.
