Dr. Miroslav Marić at an International Workshop in Athens

Senior Research Associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), Dr. Miroslav Marić, took part on August 24 and 25 in the international workshop “From Matrilineal Neolithic to Patrilineal Bronze Age? Revisiting ‘Old Europe’”, organized by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the Field Museum in Chicago. He presented to the workshop participants the current state of knowledge regarding Marija Gimbutas’ Old Europe theory in light of archaeological research from recent decades. The workshop was held at the Malcolm Wiener Laboratory of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, with participation of numerous European and American expoerts in the field of the Neolithic of Southeast Europe and Asia Minor.
