01. Oct 2025.

Dr. Vladimir P. Petrović, Scientific Advisor at the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, participated in the 58th International Scientific Conference Pontica, held in Constanța from 24 to 28 September 2025. This annual scholarly gathering, organized by the National Museum of History and Archaeology in Constanța, has established itself as one of the most prominent international forums for the exchange of research in the fields of archaeology, history, and cultural heritage. The 2025 edition brought together more than one hundred distinguished scholars representing a wide range of European countries and academic institutions.

Within the framework of the conference program, Dr. Petrović presented a co-authored paper prepared in collaboration with Gordan Janjić, M.A., Museum Advisor at the Krajina Museum in Negotin, entitled Roman Limes in Upper Moesia: Aquae and its Territory. The presentation examined the strategic role of the settlement of Aquae and its surrounding territory within the defensive and communication system of the Upper Moesian section of the Roman limes. By combining archaeological evidence, historical analysis, and regional contextualization, the study contributed to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of frontier organization in this part of the Roman Empire.
