The 20th Annual Meeting of the Slavic Linguistic Society
From 10 to 12 September 2025, the University of Verona organized the international conference and the 20th Annual Meeting of the Slavic Linguistic Society. Mirjana Mirić, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, and member of the Slavic Linguistic Society, participated in the meeting with two presentations.
The first presentation, “Clause size of modal and volitional complements and the future tense construction in the Timok variety”, was delivered as part of the workshop “Defective Domains and the Size of Complementation: South Slavic Perspectives (and beyond)”.
The second presentation, “Theme vowels never really go away: Verb integration in Gurbet Romani”, co-authored with Marko Simonović (University of Graz), resulted from the bilateral project “What’s in a verb? Mapping Serbian verbs borrowed into Romani” (2024–2026), funded under the program of scientific and technological cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Austria.
The event brought together researchers from around the world, who presented studies in various areas of linguistics based on materials from different Slavic languages.
