11th World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES) in London

Dragan Bakić and Igor Vukadinović, senior research associates of IBS SASA, took part at the 11th World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES) from 21 to 25 July 2025 organized at the Institute of Education, University College London.

As part of the panel entitled Britain and Eastern Europe’s Twentieth Century: More than Imagined Geographies, on 23 July, Dr. Bakić presented a paper “Caught between God and Tito: The Church of England, the Serbian Orthodox Church and Great Britain’s Support of Communist Yugoslavia, 1945-1953”.

As part of the panel held on July 22 titled Constructing and Deconstructing Minority Identities in the Modern Era, Dr. Vukadinović presented his paper on the topic “Promotion of ‘National Equality’ in the Context of Democratic Regression: The Communist Regime and the Position of National Minorities in Yugoslavia, 1945–1969”.
