AUSTRIA–HUNGARY AND THE EMERGENCE OF ALBANIA (1896–1914)

The book Austria–Hungary and the Emergence of Albania (1896–1914) is jointly published by the Institute for Balkan Studies, Serbian Academy of Sciences, and Arts and CLIO Publishing House. The author is Dušan Fundić, Research Associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies. This study offers the analysis of Austria–Hungary’s policies towards the emergence of the Albanian state within the research framework of great powers’ role in nation-building processes. Particularly important subjects in this study are the research of Albania’s strategic importance for Austria-Hungary’s foreign policy, the relations between the Dual Monarchy’s consuls and the local power-holders, the role of Austro-Hungarian Albanologists in the reshaping of the Albanian nationalist discourse, and the Austria-Hungary’s decisive involvement in the emergence of the Albanian state itself.
